Meet the Artist
Amanda Novak is the founder, artist, and creative mastermind behind Free Rain Supply. She is a multi-passionate creative who has dabbled in a variety of artistic media throughout her life, but has never had formal art training. In 2019, she found a new passion when she learned how to hand dye textiles using the ice dyeing method. Shortly after that she started to learn Shibori with indigo and fell even further in love with this art form .
She is also a certified Plant Lady who loves to grow cut flowers and herbs and garden for wildlife on her urban homestead in Colleyville. Nicknamed the Novak Nature Preserve, the homestead is also home to chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and countless wildlife species. The sustainability factor of small-batch hand dyeing aligns well with Amanda's strong connection to nature and preservation.
Amanda also volunteers to run a producer only farmers market in the nearby suburb of Coppell. Her undergraduate degree is in Agricultural Sciences so she enjoys supporting the local agricultural industry and helping people appreciate local food sources. She owes so much of her success to her time spent in Future Farmers of America in high school and also her experience attending Texas A&M University.
As if her plate isn't full enough, Amanda still maintains a day job at a medical certification organization working closely with physicians to develop standards for initial board certification.
Her favorite part of being an artist is definitely the community! From meeting other makers to chatting with customers at shows, it truly brings her so much joy to share her love for color with other people.
